I'm Tired

What a long day it's been,
I close my eyes and then
I grimace at the thought of it.
Will I never learn to walk,
There's all too much talk
Of change, but after that I quit.
Always puttin' on my best face,
And try to hide the real face,
Which is so tired of the thought of it.

I say I'm fine
Just gimme some time.
I'll put on an new face
To hide my old face,
The one that says I'm tired of searchin', yearning and I pray,
For that one that will hold my hand and make the world fade away.

The shadows grow longer now,
And I just want to know how
I can let go and let it fly.
Why do I so race,
Why do I chase,
After what will just make me cry;
Cry out in anger,
I feel like a stranger
A stranger just walking by.

I say I'm fine
Just gimme some time.
I'll put on an new face
To hide my old face,
The one that says I'm tired of searchin', yearning and I pray,
For that one that will hold my hand and make the world fade away.

Is the night so bad?
In the loneliness I am glad;
There's no one for me to hurt;
Who do I call at the end of the day?
Inside my heart, this night will stay.
They are empty and full of hurt,
All these times I flirt and try,
To make that one want to fly
Into my arms, now I hurt.

But I only say I'm fine
Just gimme some time.
I'll put on my best face
Hiding my real face,
The real face that says I don't want to hurt anymore and I pray,
For you to hold my hand and make my troubles fade away.
