It's my day off
In mid-afternoon
Lookin up with the top down
I think of twenty-two years ago
What she told me
I love you all the same
We don't play favorites
We love you all the same
No matter how it gets
All around me
As I'm looking up
I see beautiful sunkist leaves
Those sixteen years back
When you two were broken
I love you all the same
We don't play favorites
We love you all the same
No matter how it gets
Warm outside
Birds chatting above
Just a thoughtful day today
Now three years ago
When our eyes were opened
I love you all the same
We don't play favorites
We love you all the same
No matter how it gets
Sun peeking thru
Looking where the tree was
No matter what's changed these years
Just yesterday you asked
How I'd been
I love you all the same
We don't play favorites
We love you all the same
No matter how it gets
I know you love me
You and dad always cared
You say
I love you three the same
We never play favorites
We love you all the same
No matter how it gets
Cause we know you by name
Child you are mine
So we'll always love you
Even when the sun doesn't shine
By now
The sun's gone down
Evening is changing to night
Today comes to close
But that one thing
Has not changed...

Yahoo! Mommy and Daddy love me!!
Writing what's been going on is refreshing and reminds you of what the Lord's done in your life. Ya know, some thoughts are well expressed while others are just jumbled in your head. That's kind of how some of mine are. At times I'm really able to express what's going on, but sometimes I'm just in a processing phase.

Come On, Come On
Oh, I see with eyes not my own
It makes me deeply hurt
A me I couldn't see till now
A little boy, healthy and happy
With age comes decisions
But not good ones
I know what I want and need
Slowly deteriorating my body
Emaciated at one point
You slowly piece muscles back on bones
I still tear it off
Convinced that I know
Come on, come on
I know
Barely breathing, but still I remain
I'm fine, just a little broken
I can do this
You've let me see what's inside
Now that I'm healthier, I can see
Seeing what I was
You slowly piece muscles back on bones
I still tear it off
Convinced that I know
Come on, come on
I know
Broken doesn't fully describe
But I'm fine, just a little bloody
I can deal with this
But now that I see my insides
Now that I'm outside what I was
I can't go back
You slowly piece muscles back on bones
I think I'll let you
Convinced I'll just die
Come on, come on
I cry
Screaming I... I need you
Not as dumb as I used to be
I... I need you
Come on, come on
I can see
Come on, come on
I miss you

Thanks you, Lord, for not abandoning me... even when I've abandoned you. You are so amazing and are every reason that I have for living. I look up at you and am so amazed as to why you even want a relationship with me.

Sepia Sundown
The sky is redish in hue
This warm summer night
Beautiful is what I said, it's true
You knew I was looking at you
When the sun fades in the sky
It's beautiful each time
It's not the most beautiful
When it's high in the sky
Or when it's gone, no one can see
But when it's in the middle
The sepia sundown lights up every tree
Won't be much longer
Till the rose color's gone
Lovely is what I'm thinking
And now I'm thinking of her
It's fading behind the trees
Still beautiful in my eyes
She's not the most beautiful
When she's high in the sky
Or when she's gone, no one can see
But when she's in the middle
The sepia sundown lights up every tree
Almost faded all the way
A deep orange warmth fading
It's so breath-taking and soothing
How she makes me wanna stay
Now faded, leaving only dark
Remembering the beauty
It's not the most beautiful
When it's high in the sky
Or when it's gone, no one can see
But when it's in the middle
The sepia sundown lights up every tree
Now this lovely lady isn't most beautiful
When she's shining bright
Or when she's tryin to shove me
But when she's changing
Her sepia sundown is so lovely
The night sky is dark a calm
So we sit on the hammock
And wait for the stars

Be Gentle
What I really wanna say
Seems to come out best
When it's in a verse
It'll put my mind at rest
Words that come to mind
When I think of you
Waiting and Time, cause
Patience is a virtue
Just please be gentle with me
I wouldn't have said a word
Unless I really knew
Who I really wanted
That person is you
Maybe that seems forward
But all the same to me
I'm not impatient
I can wait and see
Any pain there could be
Is worth it to me
I promise, I'll be gentle with you
I wouldn't have said a thing
Unless I really knew
Who I really wanted
That is you
You say that you are shy
There's something I want you to know
How beautiful you really are
Beyond your face that seems to glow
If there's any pain to be
It's better than if I'd never see
I said, I'll be gentle with you
I would not say a word
Unless I really knew
Who I wanted
It's you
Now all this to say
That I'll wait as long as it will take
My Lord gives me infinite peace
Cause anything worth waiting for
Might bend me till I break
Please be gentle
I can't make you feel the same
I would never play a game
With a heart so tender
So I'd be your friend all the same
Cause patients are for doctors
But patience is for me
So please be gentle
And we'll be sure
To be around to see
What may come...

A Faint Whisper
Wind
Slow, steady, and warm
It brushes my cheek & warms my face
Your voice is similar to this
Never loud, just
Quiet
Like this faint breeze
Just barely audible
It's a faint whisper
Somehow your faint whisper
Can seem so loud
Though it's spoken in the quietest tongue
In a language only you have sung
Still
I don't make a sound
Cause when I speak it leaves less room
I wanna make room so you speak
Just barely, you whisper
Stay
Like a trickling stream
Off in the distance
It's a faint whisper
Somehow your faint whisper
Can seem so loud
Though it's spoken in the quietest tongue
In a language only you have sung
Questions
Just like a little boy
I find more questions than I find answers
Dad, all I ask is when
You say wait
Patience
Like an anticipated moment
The stillness before it's time
It's a faint sound
Somehow your faint whisper
Can seem so loud
Though it's whispered in the quietest tongue
In a language I wish I'd sung
This little boy wants to talk to Dad
Dad just tells me
Be still
Stop your busyness
Be still, know who I am
Don't speak till I say, don't go till I say
Be still, and stay
What the boy hears is a faint breeze
Brushing his cheek
He thinks of Him
Dad speaks in the quietest tongue
A faint whisper only He's sung
The boy listens, then he can rest
The faint whisper says
Good night son

Scrunchy Face
You think I'm strange
And when I think of love
Stangely I think of you
Patient n kind
The love that I find
Picturing your face
Leaf touching your nose
Your scrunchy face
This weakness grows
I tell you, you can't see
How lovely you are
I think you have a charm
And then I think of love
Charms don't seem to work
No jealousy or pride
Are on your side
Picturing your face
Leaf touching your nose
Your scrunchy face
This weakness grows
I tell you, you can't see
How lovely you are
You think I need some correction
And when you think too much
Correction can come in
Not to be rude or angry
But something has tamed me
Picturing your face
Leaf touching your nose
Your scrunchy face
This weakness grows
I tell you, you can't see
How lovely you are
I think about this love
And if think I can give everything away
But love's not in me
He tells me, I gain nothing
Now that's something

Love, Not An Empty Emotion
This little boy
As he mumbles
His words stumble
& his heart crumbles
Mumbling doesn't mean I don't know what to say,
Just how I wanna say, what I wanna say...
Love is not a feeling, not an empty emotion
It's far more than that.
It's not driven by fear & frustrations
Swayed by misunderstanding.
It is a decision, made over and over again.
Short on altitude
Your little attitude
She really could
& her heart really should
She says that he mumbles when he tries to say,
Just what he's been waiting to say...
Love is not a feeling, not an empty emotion
It's far more than that.
It's not driven by fear & frustrations
Swayed by misunderstanding.
It is a decision, made over and over again.
This little girl
Doesn't trust him
Doesn't even trust them
& her hearts been broken by them
But he says as he mumbles, you're worth the wait you see,
Cause I really do love you, but I can wait, can't you see...
He says,
Love is not a feeling, not an empty emotion
It's far more than that.
It's not driven by fear & frustrations
Swayed by misunderstanding.
It is a decision, made over and over again.
It is not selfish,
Doesn't get angry,
It's just patient,
Always caring, for others before himself
Love is not a feeling, not an empty emotion
It's far more than that.
It's not driven by fear & frustrations
Swayed by misunderstanding.
It is a decision, made over and over again.
And her heart breaks down, as he mumbles what he said.
She just wanted someone who's patient,
Cause she need to be loved.
Love's not a feeling, an empty emotion.
So much more than that.
Always patient, that's what she needed
And she rests her cheek in his hand.

When You Smile
Now, I don wanna fall in love again,
Cause that means I'd have to let someone in.
And I don't wanna hurt you,
Don't wanna make you cry.
But if I don't tell you,
I think I'd almost die.
Cause when you smile
The sun comes out, n butterflies fly.
Your cheeks fluster my speech, n it's hard to say goodbye.
Now I've wanted to love you,
I hope you see that it's true,
As a sister before anything.
Your worth waiting for,
Hope that you see as I sing,
There's something I can't ignore.
Cause when you smile
The sun comes out, n butterflies fly.
Your cheeks fluster my speech, n it's hard to say goodbye.
Now there's something about
Just wantin to scream and shout,
You may not be short on love,
But you sure got some fight
A kind of push n shove,
Even when it's late at night.
Cause when you smile
The sun comes out, n butterflies fly.
Your cheeks fluster my speech, n it's hard to say goodbye.
Now, I've waited this long,
To talk about what's in this song.
Now that I've said it, I just might
Have to love that smile.
What you lack in height,
You make up for in your smile.
Cause when you smile
The sun comes out, n butterflies fly.
Your cheeks fluster my speech, n it's hard to say goodbye.
Now, I've waited cause I wanted to be sure,
Of what was n was not, I couldn't ignore
That when they've asked about me,
You've always said no, he too old.
This makes me think I see, this could never be
More than has already been told.
This observation, makes me wanna know,
Can do I wanna stay or go?
Be honest with me, am I inappropriate
In what I've had to say?
Know that I've only said it,
Else it'd kill me, n He said it's okay.
And when you smile
The sun comes out, n butterflies fly.
Your cheeks fluster my head, n it's hard to say goodbye.
Now there's a light in your eye,
Nuff to make a grown man cry.
Breaks my heart to ever see you sad, oh
When we talk, there's nothing you coulda told,
That could ever make my heart, ever grow cold
Cause your bright eyes, light up my shadow.
And when... you... smile
The sun comes out when it's been awhile
N butterflies fly, but never have to die.
When I catch your eye from across the room,
Those cheeks fluster my speech, and something in my heart
Falls back again.
It's hardest think, when I see you smile.
But it's hardest to say goodbye
At the end of the night
Cause when... you... smile
When you smile...
Something comes alive.
