End of the Rope

no, i say there's nothing left;
nothing now, I look right and left.
i look above, i see the rope;
i look below, there's no more rope.
how do i go on now?
please tell me, tell me how.
i don't know, i've got no more hope;
yeah, i'm at the end of my rope.

i feel so betrayed;
. . . i betrayed myself.
i knew i should have stayed;
. . . i betrayed myself.
i just closed my ears,
. . . and turned away.
now i shed these tears,
. . . and can only pray.
God, please take me from
. . . this place of death.
i know that i need some
. . . escape from this death.
i feel that life is gone, but i still breathe...

but, i still say there's nothing left;
nothing now...

it's a desert here,
. . . only sand and no water at all.
all i feel is fear,
. . . i need water, but there's none at all.
i'm hurtin' now,
. . . cut and bleeding on the sand.
i don't know how,
. . . my mouth is parched, i look at my hand.
it's raw and red,
. . . i try holding on;
i hear what i said,
. . . and try holding on.
i'm alright and i'm okay...

no, i say there's nothing left;
nothing now...

i still gripped,
. . . my hand is weak,
my pride is stripped,
. . . my head is weak.
i fall now,
. . . i finally see how

i say there's nothing left;
nothing now, i look right and left.
i look above, there's no more rope;
i look below, i now have Hope.
i can now, in you live;
this water, to me you give.
you hold me up, give me Hope;
i don't need this filthy rope.
