Half Asleep, Half Awake

The thing about burying something
Is that there's always that chance
That you'll never find it again.

That's what I'm afraid of
Is the ever so slim reality
That I'll bury my heart too far.

When you're only half awake
That makes you half asleep
Nothing is so simple
As when you're dreamy n lucid
But only half of everything.

Your heart is gonna stop
You're half way there
But you're still half asleep and half awake.

I look through the fog
But can't make out the form
Don't know if you're really there.

I have this strange creeping
On the back of my neck
That I won't wake from this fog

Cause when you're only half awake
That makes you half asleep
Nothing is so complicated
As when you're dreamy n gone
But only half of everything.

Your heart is stopping
You're more than half way there
But you're still half asleep and half scared.

Now if I've already buried my heart
Maybe that means a new start
And I should leave it in the dirt.

But that's what I've feared
I'd do when walking past these headstones
It's what happens when you bury your heart too far.

Cause when I'm asleep
I can dream again
And life seems less complicated
When you're just gone
Don't really wanna wake again.

I think my heart had to stop
To see that I'm already where I am
And it doesn't take half of anything
To be fully where I am
My heart had to stop
To see that I'm already here.

I've felt a little under a fog the past year or so. I dunno, things definitely aren't the way you think they should be. That's not a bad thing. Nothing to cry about. Just seems like life trudges along sometimes. All the more reason to trust Jesus with my heart and my emotions.
