Blinding Darkness

Why when you are here
Holding me still
Do I still try to move

My heart has grown so tired
From my running
And all that I haven't given over

I know that "she" will never
Cover the empty
That overshadows my heart

I have tried to make her more
Than she's meant
To ever have been

A long stretching darkness
Over a water so deep
Can't see a thing, this blinding darkness
Is all I see

Sitting in the darkness
By the water
I stare into the night

Emptiness collides with motion
As water laps
A shore I can not see

A long stretching darkness
Over a water so deep
Can't see a thing, this blinding darkness
Is all I see

I keep looking for something
I can't see
So how do I even know

Is that thing what I think it is
Or do I wait
For something better than I see

A long stretching darkness
Over a water so deep
Can't see a thing, this blinding darkness
Is all I see

I'm more blind than I could know
I see this
Which seem so ironic looking back

Don't wanna walk in the dark
Not any more
Cause it's so lonely there

A long stretching darkness
Over a water so deep
Can't see a thing, this blinding darkness
Is all I see

Tears stream down my face
Cause I'm lost
But I don't have to stay here

Faint rays of the sunshine
Creep the horizon
The empty seems so less empty

A long stretching shoreline
Over a water so deep
My eyes are clearing, warm orange glow
Is all I see

This is written about the Lord bringing things to light in my life that have seemed to have been in darkness for so long. When we search for meaning on our own, we might as well be looking for something in the pitch blackness of night.
