Love: falling into and growing in

To fall in Love
is like jumping
into untested waters;
You have a chance of
having a lot of
fun,
But you also have a very
good chance of
breaking something
(her heart and yours).

To grow in Love
on the other hand,

is like looking
up at a December night sky;
You could think of
the cold around
you,
But when you see the stars

above, you slowly
see what you
may have taken
for granted.

This patient Love
is far more beautiful

than anything you
tried to make
yourself.

(#56)

Somewhat disillusioned by what many of us call Love, I write this. I have fallen in love twice before and do not intend to a third time unless I know that this woman is to be my wife. The scriptures never speak of dating. This game that our society has created just serves to tear our hearts apart so much that what we have to give our mate when we finally do get married it a tattered heart that's far less than a guarded heart set apart for the intended mate. Why have I held on so tightly to this idea of dating? I ask myself this and then think ... do I really want to do things my way, or do want to give up my will and seek His will?
